Welcome to the 3rd grade at VVL! In the 3rd grade we learn our multiplication and division facts, measurement, fractions, graphing and how to write and solve multi-step story problems. We also dive into learning about how maps and globes work, as well as where we are in location to other cities, states, countries and continents. Learning about Greece, Ancient Rome, the 3 Branches of Government and Immigration are just a few of the Social Studies units that we enjoy reading, researching and discussing. 3rd grade is also the exciting year of transitioning into cursive. Boy do the students love to write in cursive. It is almost a lost art, but my students enjoy learning how to write in cursive. Book projects, guided reading groups, Fundations, the Daily 5 and cooperative learning, to name a few, are some of the adventures that we have in the 3rd grade at Val Vista Lakes Elementary.
